Location & Directions
Registration area at Colaiste Mhuire and is pinned on Google Maps here
Parking is in the town centre of Ballygar.
The start is located in the forest and it is a 1.5km walk along the public road (take care and walk on the right side of the road) from Colaiste Mhuire Secondary School and 2km from the town square.
Terrain Info
The forest is mixed runnability with a good network of roads, paths, earth walls and tracks. There are some felled areas and storm damage. Numerous depressions cover the area
Mapping notes
Crossing points – All courses will cross the river which runs through the area.
The map scale for all courses will be 1:10,000, with a contour interval of 5m for all courses. Map Size A4 (22.5cm x 32cm) printed on Antius waterproof paper.
Symbol control descriptions will be printed on the map. Loose control descriptions will be available at the start.
Registration & Download
Download and registration is at the gazebo in the south end of the forest near Colaiste Mhuire Secondary School.
There is no need to come to Registration unless you need to collect or change an SI card: you can go directly to the start.
Keys may be left in sealed envelopes at registration, which you pass on the way to the start.

All day 2 maps will be 1:10000
Start Info:
This will be a timed start with start times from 1030 to 1300.
Call-up will be at -4 minutes. Clear and check boxes for SI cards will be located in the call-up area. Loose control descriptions will be available in the start boxes. Competitors will cross the Start Line at their designated start time and then take their maps.
It is the responsibility of each competitor to ensure that they arrive at their allocated start time, have cleared their SI card, and that they check they have taken the correct map.
Late Arrivals:
The competition rules require you to start at your allocated time. Late arrivals will be allowed to start at the next available half of the start interval with original start time.
Finish Info:
Please note that the download will be at the south end of the forest on your route back from the Finish. There will be bags at the Finish labelled by club for Ireland and by country for other competitors. Finishers returning before the last start must place their map in the appropriate bag. The maps may be collected after the last start at 1300.
ALL COMPETITORS MUST DOWNLOAD WHEN THEY RETURN WHETHER THEY HAVE COMPLETED THE COURSE OR NOT.
Course Closing: Course closes at 1500.

Refreshments
There are 3 food outlets in the town, Fallon’s Bar & Lounge, An Tobar Bar & Lounge and The Coffee Drop
Litter
Please follow the country code and leave no trace principles. Bring all your litter home with you, and consider bringing a reusable cup for the refreshments afterwards.
Toilet Facilities
There will be toilets available for use in the Secondary School Colaiste Mhuire beside the entrance to the forest and the Registration / Download area. There will be no toilets at the start.
Clothing Transfer
There will be no clothing transfer.
First Aid
The designated First Aid officer can be found close to the Download / Registration area.
Prizes / Prize Giving
We will have prizes for the top three finishers in all age categories
Prize giving will be held in the Hodson Bay Hotel, Athlone after the AGM on Sunday. The Hodson Bay Hotel is located just 5km from Athlone Town Centre on the N61 Roscommon Road
